Grange Cross Residents Association Ltd commissioned a professionally produced DVD of the Official Opening of the Memorial Garden by Minister Michael Noonan, T.D. The DVD runs for xx minutes and includes the chairmanship of the proceedings by Miriam Gallagher and the eloquent address by Minister Noonan. It also includes the addresses made by Kieran Hourigan, Dr Éamonn Ó hÓgáin and Thomas Toomey. Marching, singing, views of the attendees and other proceedings were also captured. Of course, the actual opening of the Memorial Garden by the Minister was also captured.

The people of the Grange locality, similar to communities throughout the Republic of Ireland, are extremely proud of their history and heritage; they are forever grateful to all of those brave and selfless men and women who fought over the centuries for Irish Freedom.
It is owing to the sacrifices of these patriots, in many cases the ultimate sacrifice, that Ireland is today a Sovereign State and a nation, highly regarded on the world stage from many perspectives. Indeed, Ireland of today is the envy of many another country.
Grange is synonymous with the Irish Fight for Freedom, and many locals gave up their lives over the years for the cause. Many others endured oppression, brutality and prison.
And so it was, when the irish Government announced plans to commemorate 1916 in the centenary year and when Limerick City and County Council invited community proposals, the Grange decision to make a substantial proposal to erect a Memorial Garden came easily. The result was the construction of a magnificent Garden adjacent to Grange Church, which was officially opened by Mr Michael Noonan, T.D., Minister for Finance on 24th April, 2016.
The Opening Ceremony was facilitated by Limerick City and County Council, The Irish Army, Emergency Services, An Garda Siochana and numerous local volunteers. Many public representatives were in attendance. A large number of parishioners and people from farther afield attended.
The event was superbly chaired by Miriam Gallagher. Kieran Hourigan, Chairman of the Grange Cross Residents Association hosted the event and made an address. Poignant addresses were made by Dr Éamonn Ó hÓgáin in Irish and by Thomas Toomey, Historian. Minister Noonan delivered a striking address. After the opening ceremony, many of the large crowd in attendance retired to the nearby and magnificent Lough Gur House for a great repast laid on by the owners, Patrick and Fiona O'Sullivan and family. A great evening was had by all.
Doubtless, the Memorial Garden Project Leader, Mickey O'Connell, was well satisfied with the manner in which the day's proceedings evolved and concluded. Well done and great thanks to Mickey and his dedicated team
