The Declan Hehir Photo Collection
Declan Hehir, a native of Bruff, County Limerick, Ireland, is a freelance professional photographer of great repute and long experience. Declan's work, over many years, has produced wonderful imagery - portraits, group scenes, landscapes and commissioned special works. He has recorded many life events for posterity including, new born babies, christenings, first communions, confirmations, graduations, weddings, sporting activities and, of course, an array of special events. Declan's easy-going manner is a huge asset when his subject matters include children (and adults) - he has a way of relaxing his subjects and encouraging the perfect pose. His work has taken him around the country to various settings, including, churches and schools.
Declan has worked with the media all through his career, providing great photographs that have appeared in The Limerick Leader, The Vale Star and more.
The Grange Book Committee required a striking and beautiful image to adorn the dustover of the Grange Book, Grange - Past and Present. Declan provided a glorious shot of Grange Church as seen across Lough Gur from a vantage point at Knockadoon. This image was beautifully assimilated to the dustcover by Alice Brennan, who designed the book. Declan produced other imagery too for the Grange Book.
When the Grange Book was launched in November 2015, Declan was the designated photographer for the event and his imagery of the special event can be seen on this website.
Declan's artistic talent extends beyond photography as is evident every year at Halloween and Santa Claus events in Bruff, when fantastic staged contextual scenes are to be seen and enjoyed by adults and children alike. The extent and detail of the props are simply awesome, reflecting great imagination. Declan and his colleagues deserve huge commendations for these productions. Declan is also talented on stage.
A small selection of Declan's photographs are can be seen below. Others may be added from time to time.
