The Michael Barry Photo Collection

Michael (Mike) Barry is a well-known Grangeman from County Limerick in Ireland. His name is synonymous with Holycross AFC with whom he played soccer during his playing years, and in subsequent years, including up to the present, he has been a mentor and a member of management at the club.

Mike, as he is known locally, in pursuance of his profession, has been based overseas for several years in the Middle-East, most recently in Qatar.

Mike has a passion for photography and he has skilfully amassed a collection of images that runs to some forty-five thousand. As he has travelled widely and continues to do so, visiting many countries around the globe, he has captured an array of worldwide cultures and environments through his lenses. Of course, his collection includes extensive imagery of his native place, Grange, and the wider locality. The beautiful Lough Gur is always a favourite subject of his, as are the varying landscapes and the wealth of archaeological sites in the area. As well as all that, he has an eye for capturing great portraits.

Mike is also a prolific writer and he combines his photography and writing skills in
his blog to be found on the internet, hosted at WordPress.

Mike wrote several articles for the book "Grange Past and Present", published in 2015. His articles may be viewed on this page.

The galleries of images that follow have been chosen by Mike, reflecting a selection of his favourites from his travels and his homeland. They are beautiful to withhold. Into the future, Mike will provide further favourites to be posted here - of course, his constantly updated blog will showcase many more new images as well as his very entertaining and informative writing.

Thank you Mike.
